so i was watching jimmy fallon, which i had recorded cause i saw the info, got confused and i was thinking of olivia dunham the character from the show fringe. anyway the point is, olivia munn. do people know about this person? ummm, look her up. that chick is a problem. also, susan surrandon, whom i also love, was on the show playing ping pong. silly but fun.
umm, thanksgiving with the chicago crew. didn't get much tourism accomplished, but had a good time with the fam-o. lee apparently has a giant 2000 sf apartment, with his long-time girlfriend and the gf's 5-year-old daughter. hardwood floors. south side of the chi, what.
played some rock band. room full of 20-30somethings rockin out, with the old folks in the other room drinking hennessey and playing some unfathomable card game.
talked to a coworker's friend who's come in a few times. she's a prophetic dreamer. anyone heard of this? apparently god (capital G) basically talks to her directly and/or sends her the word to give to others through her dreams. she predicted that her friend would get pregnant, which she did.
i was going to write a giant post where i worked out my feelings on christianity. however by writing that discussion, it would negate the point of my view.
part of what i figured out though was that i would love to speak to a devout christian about religion, and how i see the world and the role of faith in my life, and the same from their view, in an objective, open dialogue. i'm scared and a little sad that this is not a possible scenario. everyone knows that many if not most of my best friends in the world are practicing religious people, mostly christians. however, i think that if we ever got into the subject, they would only be able to frame it from a place that was deeply entrenched in the termanology, culture, and wholistic mindset that would not allow any sort of pick-and-choose, shades-of-grey sort of talk. it's like, if they were able to get that degree of distance from it, then they are probably not the person that is giving me the true, "all-in" christina perspective.
aaaaannnyway...

it takes three events to make a pattern. at least, right? ok i won't get too crunk until i'm in a routine, but wish me luck on exercising. on that tip, looks like i'm in the market for an ipod. hot motivation for hitting those mean suburban streets to run nightly. figure if i can do stuff every night - sans starbucks nights, of course - then um, that's good. might give me a bit more energy for the desk job. i realized that for as much as i like technology and appreciate the computer, i'm not actually a sit-still-in-one-place-on-one-computer-task type of dude.
also the slightly-goofy middle-aged lady maureen who answers the phones today, got all "hey, ur mean heehee" today when i called her "dude." it's totally a gender-neutral term.
was thinking about going for the sentra rx or whatever;or possibly a mini cooper. however, i don't know how keen i am on getting a stick as my main transpo. it might suck for stop-n-go, "why-cain't-yawl-people driiiive?!" atlanta traffic. but i want something more sportier, and a little little bit smaller, with the same size engine as the altima's got. altima coupe was also an option, as was a new mazda.
i'm thinking halloween ish week would be a good time to go down to hit up some gainesville (it's been... MONTHS and MONTHS like...february(?) since i sat foot in that town. minor withdrawl.). i should try to get with 'drea too unlike last time, since it's her birthday round that time and i need to keep my older brother routine on point. see though i need to coordinate shit correctly, cause i don't want to roll down in the altima due to tire issues. so mayaps if i have the new ride OR a rental. d n j are going for like the whole week of homecoming, which is not real possible for a 9-5 peon like i-and-i. hence the thought pattern of halloween and solo.
also, remember andre three kay? fire much? got that album back out the other day. happy valentie's day.
also, my phone sux today instantly for no reason.
randomly c's buddy bobbi's mom karen rolled through the office today like it weren't a thing. "engineer business." and the other week boss macnaughton was all "yeah and i was talking to colvin's mom about you recently over drinks and..."
really? can i bees in the city nowz?
current mood: energized, hungry, dirty.

freakin love this verse. so classic. i mean i'm not the first one to notice that Illmatic was on some next-next
level shit for being written in what? '92? so street. so intelligent gangster.
sometimes i sit back with a buddah sack
minds in another world, thinking how can we exist through the facts
written in school textbooks, bibles, et cetera
fuck a school lecture, them lies get me vexed-er
so i be ghost from my projects,
i take my pen and pad for the weekend, hittin L's while i'm sleeping
a two day stay, you may say, i needed time alone
to relax my dome, no phone, left the nine at home

weird, but not wholly un-positive, day. it just felt like fall. instantly. like, last week it was summer, and had a fun weekend with the crew at the webb house, and monday was coasting, and WHAM. it's all brisk and cloudy and Different. nothing so obvious as leaf changes. though i can smell that coming, too. everything is everything, but the only part i feel queasy about is the shorter days. i don't need LESS incentive to get up at 8 every fuckin morning.
saw Dana from school at the bar (new bar for me, moes and joes on n highland. how cool does that sound?), while chilling with the fl-ga connect crew. love running into people while i'm out with people. as if i was cool or something. also 88% sure i saw gary, owner of mcracken's irish pub up here in m-town, there tonight.
long, just odd day at work. people buzzing around, getting shit printed, doing cost estimates. rob was out. he essentially gives me my work. so i was taking care of random little shit for people. got my email set up, after frustration on cindy's part cause it was fucking up somehow. had to re-install autocad, screw my asshole, and spent the last forty five minutes fiddling with it unsucessfully trying to get my options set back up. boss is interesting. good old southern boy, cursing up a storm around the office like it's not a goddamn thing. kinda scared of him. everyone else is decent, but he's like this looming whirlwind that hasn't smacked anyone into the barn door Yet, but...
bonus though, i thought i had to go into sbux, but i didn't!
hence, got to go to the bar. dude lauren's bf johnathan is so cool. also i'm really interested in becoming friends with her lil sister ash, who came too! and 2.75 dollar pitchers. i say got damn!
embarassingly, lost my car for 1/2 hour, walking first the wrong way and then 2 blocks PAST it on highland with john and peter.
still glad i was out in the fallness of it all.
changeage.

Lemme, Lemme Upgrade You, Grade You
desk job: lunch on the L Seven at a different quaint little overpriced shop each week. cad 0-10 version crash course. making plans and elevating it like andre three kay. rob, johnathan, and the apparently mute jona are decent to sit near while clicking away. dozingly little of substance to design. attractive little slip of paper in an envelope with my name and some numbers on it delivered to my desk in the afternoon. mini baller moment.
evenings w/ bai, tashala, and miss lee. surprisingly lots of energy remaining per night. this is the week of rnb remenicence, many marked-out pastries, and of course psycho old people. the night time is all about the minorities, and we (unfortunately for individuals predisposed to hateration) tend to maintain the realness.. no coffee for you caucasians unless we say so. downloaded mad rnb singles due to the aforementioned convo, as well as monica's first album. females singing songs was that fire in the early 90's.
field trip in the morning, hopefully leads to a free lunch and a short day. then fnm w/ courrier, whom has been lifeless due to his military obligations for like the past month. collectible card gaming.
saw nate and tt perform standup at the landmark. pleasantly surprised at their talent. mos def worth the entry, cause there were even funnier comics than them as well.
don't plan to have much of a life for a few months. gotta get that guac. holla at cha boy this december. if you're reading this, you're all four invited to come get blitzed and fool around with me on my birthday in my new place that i'm determined to find and begin renting by that date.

Ran up and down the block to the next neighborhood over. ran into 3 older neighbors who wanted to chit chat. probly more than i've ever talked to folks in the neighborhood in years, all in an hour.
was planning to hit up this comedy club w/ nate tonight, but he got some business dinner that might pan out into something, so i may just hit up fnm. if anyone is going, that is.
anyway i actually started writing a few little things for this black and white routine we keep talking about.
american sweethearts is such an above-par rom com.
JL of the cool kids crew came by the shop yesterday on her way up(?) to kentucky. i learned that she doesn't like coffee. weirdo. officially she's the first ever to come up and visit me in atlanta. actually, no that's not true. j wall and nalo did come up several months ago.
sensual shower time.

S.A.B.? ...You Decide. Pt 2
ok, only because it's Jen's (brother Lazarus' fiance) birthday in a few minutes, and because i miss Young B desperately and haven't seen her in like a year, and because i know that none of the concerned parties read this. actually don't mention this if you know these wonderful girls, cause i kinda think that the folks who have observed this are kinda not mentioning this to either party. even though it is awesome.
ready?
begin maddness.
....
must. stop. fb stalking. friends.
imagine my surprise upon meeting JB up in the A Town, with the full knowledge that BG is in G-Vegas working on her degree. confusion, intriguement, wonder at the magic of the universe, belief in extraterrestrial duplication. yeah. i'm getting a drink.

Hey, Guero/Yeah bro?
or "Some of Those that Run Forces..."
oh, L Boogie, i don't know if you ever went over to that cafe 11 place over the weekend? anyway i ended up going there like 4 times. Elbow got this rediculous peanutbutter banana smoothie there, and it was like "yknow what, i could probably make this shit at work!!" so... i did. it was freakin good.
sunday after the kiddies left, Elbow and i agreed that the weekend with everybody was desperately short. bet it's largely cause for one whole night, half of the children created a self-imposed isolation in the "fun without alcohol room." it's not that i mind sobriety, i just (privately) look down on passive-aggressive judgemental people with the same disdain that they so proudly flaunt. whatever that last sentence was mad pretentious. i just don't like the implication that i can't play a goddamn card game with a drink in my hand and not become a belidgerant asshole.
anyway, i enjoyed chilling at the pool the first day and talking to people as they arrived. just wish i hadn't been left with a slightly sour taste in my mouth the next night. also, i know it's logistically impossible, but for once i'd like to be able to have everyone be able to eat actually together.
the point is that i in general like everyone and i would've enjoyed more face time with each individual person. so little time. maybe we should create like - instead of speed dating - speed friendship! you sit at a table with one person, and you catch up for x amount of minutes. then you move to the next table and chat up the next buddy. or like, confessional. i'd be in the booth, and they'd come in one-at-a-time like all "forgive me ryan, for i have sinned. it's been 6 months since i last spoke to you." yeah that got weird fast. next paragraph.
personal fav moments included: frisbee; blocks with the cool kids pre-margharita chair madness; death cab acoustic; playa-playa ballin' glam model photoshoots with Elbow; and a lot. of. good. food.
worth the drive, methinks. and NO SPEEDING TICKETS!
recently acquired music that i want to digest this week:
3 rage against the machine albums 2.4 hours
8 beck albums 8.1 hours
1 beastie boys album 0.9 hours
1 airborn toxic event album 0.6 hours
1 vampire weekend album 0.5 hours
1 adele album 0.7 hours
1 james taylor album 0.5 hours
so this is the random soundtrack to which i write this post.
i want to get hardcore serious about my career now, but now that i have the motivation, i can't seem to come up with the direction. who has jobs for me to apply to? where do i get a giant list of random firms to cold call? what personal connections can i exploit?
finally made it out to trivia with the ATL-FLA connect crew. new spot off peachtree that had all-you-can-eat wings, a shit-tonne of televisions, eh/just-ok beer selection, bomb-ass sweet potato fries, and decently cute servers. apparently it was acceptable that D n J didn't come to retreat, cause Jen's parents' big town event up in the mountains went like extra well and they needed the help. we got to meet Big Harper's on-and-off since high school boy, who we agree is surprisingly pretty cool. our team was about 2 questions outside of placing, but still a sucessful fun weeknight.
fell asleep early-ish on the couch attempting to watch the 100th episode of DANCE. so i guess i'll hit that up now.
