or "Some of Those that Run Forces..."
oh, L Boogie, i don't know if you ever went over to that cafe 11 place over the weekend? anyway i ended up going there like 4 times. Elbow got this rediculous peanutbutter banana smoothie there, and it was like "yknow what, i could probably make this shit at work!!" so... i did. it was freakin good.
sunday after the kiddies left, Elbow and i agreed that the weekend with everybody was desperately short. bet it's largely cause for one whole night, half of the children created a self-imposed isolation in the "fun without alcohol room." it's not that i mind sobriety, i just (privately) look down on passive-aggressive judgemental people with the same disdain that they so proudly flaunt. whatever that last sentence was mad pretentious. i just don't like the implication that i can't play a goddamn card game with a drink in my hand and not become a belidgerant asshole.
anyway, i enjoyed chilling at the pool the first day and talking to people as they arrived. just wish i hadn't been left with a slightly sour taste in my mouth the next night. also, i know it's logistically impossible, but for once i'd like to be able to have everyone be able to eat actually together.
the point is that i in general like everyone and i would've enjoyed more face time with each individual person. so little time. maybe we should create like - instead of speed dating - speed friendship! you sit at a table with one person, and you catch up for x amount of minutes. then you move to the next table and chat up the next buddy. or like, confessional. i'd be in the booth, and they'd come in one-at-a-time like all "forgive me ryan, for i have sinned. it's been 6 months since i last spoke to you." yeah that got weird fast. next paragraph.
personal fav moments included: frisbee; blocks with the cool kids pre-margharita chair madness; death cab acoustic; playa-playa ballin' glam model photoshoots with Elbow; and a lot. of. good. food.
worth the drive, methinks. and NO SPEEDING TICKETS!
recently acquired music that i want to digest this week:
3 rage against the machine albums 2.4 hours
8 beck albums 8.1 hours
1 beastie boys album 0.9 hours
1 airborn toxic event album 0.6 hours
1 vampire weekend album 0.5 hours
1 adele album 0.7 hours
1 james taylor album 0.5 hours
so this is the random soundtrack to which i write this post.
i want to get hardcore serious about my career now, but now that i have the motivation, i can't seem to come up with the direction. who has jobs for me to apply to? where do i get a giant list of random firms to cold call? what personal connections can i exploit?
finally made it out to trivia with the ATL-FLA connect crew. new spot off peachtree that had all-you-can-eat wings, a shit-tonne of televisions, eh/just-ok beer selection, bomb-ass sweet potato fries, and decently cute servers. apparently it was acceptable that D n J didn't come to retreat, cause Jen's parents' big town event up in the mountains went like extra well and they needed the help. we got to meet Big Harper's on-and-off since high school boy, who we agree is surprisingly pretty cool. our team was about 2 questions outside of placing, but still a sucessful fun weeknight.
fell asleep early-ish on the couch attempting to watch the 100th episode of DANCE. so i guess i'll hit that up now.

No, we didn't make it to Cafe 11. I always feel that way when I get smoothies, omelets, salads. And not to sound full of myself, but I end up doing it better than the professionals. My waldorf salad is killer.
The weekend really was way too short. I basically had to cram a summer vacation into 2 and a half days :( Me, Dyl, and Cruze basically did EVERYTHING, but I would have enjoyed more time with everyone else as well.
The "holier than thou-ers" definitely bother me. Especially since they didn't acknowledge me when I entered the room with a glass of wine in my hand. Excuse me for being 22 and having 3 drinks over the course of 2 hours. I'm such a sinner.
Now that you've mentioned it, I'm going to make a PB and banana smoothie. I'll let you know how it turns out!
1 cup organic light chocolate soy milk + 1 medium frozen banana + a little over 2 tablespoons of honey roasted crunchy peanut butter + 1 minute in the Magic Bullet = multiple, food-induced o's
Just curious, what kind of firm are you hoping to work at? Or is it kind of one of those, you don't really care at this point as long as it's something?
Just curious.
I'll be in town next weekend. Hit me up. Or I'll hit you up. Or something. :D
