Being Awesome.

so the wolverine movie thursday night:

invited by charles to the midnight showing thursday night. big event, like the watchmen premier, so i was a bit excited. went straight from work to the theatre, waited for the group to show up, bought my five dollar soda and whipped out the loaf cake that i stashed in my pocket. i was ready for ACTION!

the punchline is this: the movie was super shitty, yo! mad-crazy over the top wacky effects that are litterally there just like "hey! i have REALLY! SHARP! CLAWS! they can cut through ANYTHING! no really, watch! schwing!!! and the characters - though they're apparently real characters from the comics, i learned later on - are so generic. it's like:

"ok, so the movie is the origin of Wolverine, right? i know him. he's a good fighter, and he can heal, and he's got a bad attitude but a good heart."

"yeah, he's TOTALLY AWESOME!"

"true. oooh, ok check out this asian dude, Agent Ziro. What's his power?"

"well, he can shoot everybody while doing flips and never getting hit by bullets. his power is basically
BEING AWESOME!"

"oh. that's neat, i guess. who's this? commedian ryan reynolds is a character. What can he do?"

"him? oh that's Wade Wilson. in the comics he's the comedic anti-hero Deadpool. he has swords, and he can deflect bullets while flipping around and never getting hit. but if he did get hit, he'd heal like wolverine! so his power is pretty much
BEING AWESOME!"

"really? alright then. um who's that other hairy guy besides hugh jackman?"

"oh that's Sabretooth!
he's kind of an anti-hero-but-also-villian type character. he was wolverine's brother or something, and he's a mutant too. he can heal just like logan can, and he has razor sharp claws for fingernails. he jumps around and rips apart his prey ruthlessly, because he's got a bad attitude. pretty AWESOME, huh?!!

"uh, yeah. totally. :-( "

....
friday:

spent some time with a partner (aka, co-worker) from other stores that i'd never hung out with in the real world before. went over to the roswell historic square thingie that i drive by when i go to FNM at Supergames. we saw Patrick's gallery that he runs, and some of his art was on display. he's good! and the other artists are definitely high quality too. he gave us wine and we talked about the art. it was so classy. also there were dogs, cats, and a 1-armed metaphysical crystal healing lady involved in the story, but i'm getting tired and this is the last thing i'm writing for the entry. a fun afternoon, for sure, but another time, perhaps.
....
today:

watched the last half of 8 mile and, split over two sessions, all of stomp the yard. it was in two sessions because it was on multiple times today, and i worked a shift in between at the 285 paces store. i like the johns especially the taller john.

ne-yo is in the stepping movie for some reason. i had to look up ne-yo and eminem on wikipedia to see what's been up with them. em supposedly has an album coming up this month!

i could so crump dance. i'm sorry, i know we all hate chris brown, but dude can dance like a motherfucker.

downloaded kings of leon, the strokes, and another death cab album. rock is coming back? into my life? we'll see.
