I quickly, and quite inadvertently, became wrapped up in the beautifully shot western landscape, gravelly time-worn intro narration of sheriff Tommy Lee Jones, and psychotically-pimp
assassination skills of that cool spanish guy from Vicky Christina Barcelona. Didn't figure i'd easily get into it, since it combines some of my less favorite elements of film, such as westerns, the 1980's, and um, old men. Still, somebody had set it to record and i was already on the couch, so i got set for the long haul.- fill in the middle with suspense, lightning, a cup of hot coffee -

and then, as i got to the climactic meeting of sheriff TLJ, the other protagonist dude, and the creepy spanish guy... the emergency broadcast system kicks in warning me that it is, indeed, raining outside.
ok thanks for the safety report. on with the film. so some people die, some interesting stuff happens, and we're ready for the well-placed moral or ambiguous resolution that follows the action climax of any award-winning crime drama/ western. so its hero sitting with his wife, and he's gonna tell us about the dream he had that sheds light on the craziness we've just seen, and... the emergency broadcast system kicks in warning me that it will be, indeed, raining outside for the next hour.
so then i read the plot on wikipedia.

So after reading the plot, would you recommend the film? I haven't seen it yet.
But Vicky Cristina Barcelona was unexpectedly good. Penelope Cruz's character is crazy; she deserved that Oscar. And the soundtrack is really eclectic.
